Based in the heart of Chester, the gorgeous and inspirational roman town in cheshire UK, Potturnica Pottery was set up to bring back the lost joy of using handmade utensils. Each pot you find here is made with a reverence to nature and inspired by its might and humility. This dichotomy of power and fragility is something I am keen to constantly explore in my work.

Unlike many factory produced cups and bowls, pots from Potturnica do not have a sparkly and shiny exterior. These are silent, strong and forgiving pots. Themselves perhaps constantly evolving in their role and use for its owner; I don’t give these pots any preconceived notion of its use but merely make suggestions. The owner is urged to explore their pots on their individuality and accept them for what they are. I don’t aim to produce but I hope to create in this over produced world.

There are pots here you may find ugly and unappealing, please don’t take them home. They do not belong to you. But, if you can see Mother Nature in a pot, wholesome, unique, flawed to our ideas of perfection and delicate to your senses then that pot is made for you. Enjoy it thoroughly for there is no other pot like your pot.
